The Lights of Las Vegas
"But when Jesus saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few." (Matthew 9:36-37a)
This Scripture reminds us of our recent visit to Las Vegas. On our last evening there, our dear friends Steve and Debbie Thomas took us on a short drive to an elevation that allowed us to see the entire city as we drove back into town. When we saw all those lights David remarked, “That’s a lot of souls.” Kevin Odor, the lead pastor of Canyon Ridge Christian Church shared with the congregation that although widely known as “Sin City,” he thinks of Las Vegas as “City of Grace” because where there is much sin, more grace abounds. And for sure the fields are white and the laborers are few.
