Late last Friday night I spent some time just sitting outside under the stars
singing and praying, "It is well with my soul." We had gone to a drama
performance of Romans 12 that the girls were in earlier in the evening. They had
been at a drama camp that week and this precious time spent under the stars was
the result. Their performance spoke to me in such a wonderful way...I just
needed to praise the Lord for it.
The performance was SO powerful and
challenging and it was encouraging to see teens not just memorize scripture but
truly understanding what God is saying. Remember when Paul asks, "Who of you
teaches that does not learn?" (my paraphrase)?
These kids had taken in
God's words and His heart and, with the help of the directors, put together
skits, an allegory, a monologue, and scripture recitation that poignantly shared
the message. They challenged us to honestly look at our own prayer time and
evaluate if we are really honest and sharing our own hearts with God, instead of
praying what we think we are supposed to. I felt blessed to have been at the
performance, not just to see my girls' performances, but blessed to see how the
Lord had worked in their lives that week.
