 The Bright Knight

by Aaron F. Ott

Inspired by David Shelton's "The Great King" Allegorical Trilogy, "The Bright Knight" Story is an allegory created to communicate truths regarding the Christian life.  It follows the adventures of a young man who is chosen by the local King to perform a task that will benefit the rest of his community.  In the story, the ground water has become polluted due to the poisons introduced into it by the evil Dark Knight (traitor to the King, who seeks to weaken His reign).  The King commissions the young man, Daniel, to embark on a quest to obtain a precious mineral from a distant mountain that will burn away the poison and restore pure water to the town.

Along the way, Daniel must face many difficulties including peer pressure, temptations to quit because of distraction and fatigue, indirect and even direct resistance from the Dark Knight himself.  On the other hand, Daniel discovers the faithfulness of the King and the mysterious abilities with which he finds himself equipped by the King himself.

"I sat there with my heart smiling as I watched Aaron tell his story to a captivated audience (our son included!) It was as if I was watching an extension of David.  Aaron's "The Bright Knight" is very engaging, visual and most importantly scripturally accurate and applicable to our daily lives.  I especially enjoyed how he ends the performance with a query to the audience members as to who might be the next Bright Knight!"
