Book Report on The Great King

Title: The Great King
Author: David Shelton
Type of book: Fantasy
The Great King is about a gigantic King who loves children. He lives at the top of a mountain in a humongous castle. The children at the base of the mountain get tricked by the evil deceiver and follow him into the dark domain, where the deceiver lives. The Great King saves the children by sending his only son, the prince, to rescue them.
I loved reading The Great King because you can picture it in your mind when you’re reading it. One example of this is when the children followed the deceiver in a boat along the river that separated light from dark, evil from good. When they got to the dark side, they were all frightened when they found no ice cream that they had been promised. The deceiver loved seeing their expressions, because he was the only one who could see in the dark. I loved that it was so easy to visualize the story.
The other reason I enjoyed this book is that it was based on the one true king, God. The Great Prince was like Jesus Christ our Savior. The Great Prince sacrificed his life and rose again, just like Jesus. The deceiver was also like Satan, who got kicked out of heaven for wanting to be greater than God. The deceiver was once an attendant of the great king, and did the same thing as Satan did. The children were like us. Satan tries to get us on his side just like the deceiver did, and we go with him and sin, but God still accepts us and loves us and wants to rescue us.
The main idea of this book is that the Great King loved the children so much that he sent his only son to rescue the children from the dark domain. The Prince suffered a lot but paid the price to save the children. This is a great book, and an easy way to share Christ with non-Christian friends.
I read this entire book.
